Culture!
General: Culture in Britain is lacking in areas which could prove to educate and energise the people into learning and taking the time to recognise varied forms of entertainment. The Generalist Party wants to improve access, across the country, to facilities which educate and entertain people of all ages. For the Generalist Party, it is important that everyone can access community centres, art galleries, museums, theatres and live performance venues. These facilities allow people to gain new interests, meet new people and generally expand on a good social life which is an important part of everyday life.
To expand on this policy we will work to redevelop, maintain and construct new facilities in the communities that are lacking a hub of culture.
Community Centres: The Generalist Party understands the benefits of community centres in all areas and neighbourhoods. They are a great way for people to socialise, play sports, join interest groups and create their own activities. Community centres, if correctly created with influence from the people in the area, are a great way to build a social life, especially for the younger generations. It directly tackles the number of younger people roaming the streets in boredom and provides them with somewhere safe, inviting and exciting to be. The Generalist Party will work with younger people when considering creating community centres as much as we will work with all age groups to ensure that all centres have a varied number of possible activities and functions, in order to be as appealing as possible. To have the support of a community when forming a community centre, means that we will be able to create an environment and surroundings which the people will enjoy and want to be a part of.
Galleries and Museums: Britain has very few art galleries and museums anywhere other than it's major cities. Yet we have many budding artists, sculptors and designers that would relish the opportunity to display their work and gain feedback. The Generalist Party wants to create more galleries and museums across the country where there is a definite lack of support for creative minds. On improving access to galleries and museums, people of all ages will be able to admire and appreciate the work of an artist's impressions.
Entertainment: Television is the entertainment which dominates the majority of people's lives in Britain. The Generalist Party will work on improving this access to ensure that all British people, no matter where they live, have opportunities to see live musical performances, live plays and theatrical productions and films at affordable prices. We will work with local authorities to introduce new facilities into areas across Britain, which will increase the access to such venues and a more prominent social life that is not just based on the over consumption of alcohol. The more opportunities we have in the country, available to all people, the more we can enjoy a good and rewarding personal life to counteract the monotony of daily life which hits so many people.
