Health !

General: There are continual problems facing the 'National Health Service' in this country. Many issues can be dealt with easily to improve the standards and quality of our hospitals and general health care without bringing mass privatisation into the service. We plan on locating and separating the problems and finding the most cost effective alternative solutions to the situations, meanwhile ensuring that any solution we find, keeps the people in mind and does all it can to improve the situation further. After all we do have a 'National Health Service' which is funded by the people, though the current quality and standards clearly do not reflect the sums of money paid into the service by the British people. You deserve a Health Service which is always there for you.

Cleanliness: There are many obvious signs which help the people to recognise the dirty and unhygienic state of our hospitals, such as the spread of colds and bugs across patients when recovering in hospital. This adds to the costs of keeping a hospital running, keeps beds occupied for longer and not to mention the horrible effects such problems have on the patients themselves.

Hygiene Supervisor; To combat the unhygienic situations facing many health institutions across Britain, the Generalist Party will work to introduce a new position implemented within the hospital staff structure to purposely maintain a good standard of cleanliness and hygiene on a permanent basis. The new support and direction will take the shape of a Hygiene Supervisor, a role which is clearly a necessity in hospitals today, to take control of the cleanliness and enforce hygiene standards across all areas of the hospitals.

Such a position would compliment the cleaning staff already in position in the hospitals and assist them in such a way that ensures Britain's hospitals become cleaner and safer for all patients.

Department of Health; To also increase the standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the hospitals, the Generalist Party will work with the already established Department of Health and surveying bodies of the 'National Health Service' to create a committee with the sole responsibility of enforcing the cleanliness standards which the people of this country need in place. These measures will be put through via hospital inspections, coordinated with the Cleanliness Supervisor, to ensure standards are kept at the high rate everyone can expect. If a hospital were to fall below standard in terms of cleanliness, hygiene, or even service in another area, that institute would be assisted in improvement by the Government body as much as is necessary. Though, if the hospital is consistently under performing, which breeds great risks to all patients, the Government would take steps to become directly involved in the running of the hospital and operations to save the failing institute.

Under-performance: Today, the 'National Health Service' is falling into disrepair and costing the people of this country far too much of their hard earned money every week. The government is continually allowing private trusts to enter the 'NHS' hospitals and institutions in an attempt to improve the situation. The 'NHS' is failing to meet cleanliness and hygiene standards and consistently fails to help and support the people who need and deserve fantastic health care. With the country paying through the teeth for the 'National Health Service' the Generalist Party wants to initiate a system of controlling the falling conditions of the NHS. The Generalist Party would support, at every opportunity, the involvement of Trusts to improve the standards of equipment and technology, skill, research and of course cleanliness. However, at no point would the Generalist Party support the continued involvement of a Trust in a particular hospital which is under-performing through their involvement. To severe the rise in the number of hospitals that are failing to meet the high standards which are a necessary requirement, The Generalist Party will work the Trust in question to coordinate improvement and success in the institute. If improvement and high standards are not reached the Generalist Party would support the move to completely re-nationalise the institute and move control back to the government, enabling us to systematically and dramatically watch and support the assessment, improvement and success of that particular hospital. The same system would be applied to any failing hospital or health care facility which is created for the people of Britain. To help continue a rise in standards across the NHS, the Generalist Party will work closely with the Trusts and governing bodies of the service and all fantastic hospitals, working well on hygiene standards, research and service to the people would be allowed to continue running as such with the cooperation of the government and support where it is needed.

Dentists: Accepting today that the 'NHS' dentists in Britain are massively overworked and stretched beyond comparison, The Generalist Party would work with the Dentists themselves to coordinate a new effort in advertising and recruiting 'NHS' Dentists with possible grants and financial schemes to cover training and education as well as the actual employment there after. We would work as hard as possible to improve the number of recruits and training dentists through the application of grants and financial schemes during the initial training which would gain interest in remaining dentists on the 'NHS' rather than privatised surgeries. It is a noble profession, though one which is continually in the lime light as the massive problem for the 'NHS'. Ultimately the Generalist Party wants to support, at all opportunities, new trainees and hopefuls in the world of Dentistry in Britain. A new influx of 'NHS' Dentists would bring the life back into the service that is needed for the millions of people across Britain who need an 'NHS' Dentist. More National Dentists would give us the opportunity of additional surgeries in areas that desperately need further coverage to curb the fall in oral and dental hygiene which cripples those without access to a Dentist all together.
