Role of the Nominating Officer
The position of Nominating Officer is appointed by the Party Leader. The position is important to the party and the member has the responsibility in this position to review applications from members for candidacy in up-coming elections. The Nominating Officer has the power to refuse an application for Candidacy from a member of the party at their discretion, though generally this should be discussed with the Appointments Committee and a decision to refuse a member’s candidacy must always be disclosed to the Executive Committee during meetings.
The Nominating Officer also heads up the Appointments Committee during times of General, Local and By-Elections.
